Ducks on the Pond is a podcast for rural women, by rural women. It recognises that living on the land provides challenges and opportunities that are different for people living in metropolitan regions.
Ducks on the Pond" (DotP) is a podcast, created and hosted by rural women, Kirsten Diprose - a farmer and former ABC journalist, Jackie Elliott - a professional in the agricultural industry and Project & Events Manager of Rural Women's Day and Jennifer McCutcheon - a journalist in Dubbo and previous national sports reporter. It is specifically designed to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women living in rural areas, distinct from those encountered by their urban counterparts.
DotP's episodes are centered around various themes, each tackling issues crucial to the lives of rural women such as succession planning, mental health, balancing motherhood with rural life, and launching personal businesses. While some of these subjects may resonate with a wider audience, the podcast always offers a unique rural woman's perspective. It also challenges gender stereotypes about what a rural women is “supposed to be.”

The podcast's unique title, "Ducks on the Pond," harks back to an old saying from the 1800s shearing sheds, where men would alert each other of a woman's approach with the phrase "ducks on the pond."
